OAKLAND, CA –The 6th Annual Oakland Indie Awards, hosted by One PacificCoat Bank and Foundation and the EastBay Express, is now accepting nominations. Visit Oaklandindieawards.com by April 14 to nominate your favorite business or artist. Categories include: Oakland Soul, Ripple Effect, Innovative Newbie, Greenie, Socially-Responsible Rockstar and Pillar.
“The Oakland Indie Awards is a chance for all of us to appreciate the amazing creativity and activism displayed by Oakland’s entrepreneurs,” said Oakland Indie Award founder Erin Kilmer-Neel.
Established in 2006, the event features an awards ceremony hosted by Oakland community leaders, and an after-party with food, drink and sweets from Oakland purveyors. “We have a lot more here in Oakland than people sometimes think, and it’s our responsibility as community members to consciously seek out and choose our local businesses first, AND have fun while we’re doing it,” said Kilmer-Neel.
Past winners include Pandora, Joyce Gordon Gallery, Grand Lake Theatre and many more.
The May 31 event starts at 5:30PM at the Lakeside Theater atop the Kaiser Building. For more information, contact Trina Barton at 510.663.2253 x306, or email at tbarton@onepcf.org.
