    Inside Oakland

Join the Oakland Metro Chamber this January for a special Inside Oakland conversation featuring Senator Jesse Arreguin, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, and Assemblymember Mia Bonta. These influential East Bay leaders will come together to discuss the state and federal policies shaping Oakland and the broader region, from housing affordability and homelessness to education, workforce development, and economic stability.

Senator Jesse Arreguín represents California’s 7th Senate District, including Berkeley, Oakland, and surrounding East Bay communities. Former Mayor of Berkeley, Senator Arreguín, has dedicated his career to promoting affordable housing, preventing homelessness, achieving education equity, and improving infrastructure. With a long record of advancing policies that strengthen families and protect renters, he continues to champion solutions that create stable, thriving communities across the East Bay.

Assemblymember Buffy Wicks represents California’s 15th Assembly District, spanning Oakland to Richmond and including Berkeley. A lifelong community organizer who previously served in the Obama administration and on President Obama’s campaigns, Wicks was recently appointed Chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee. She focuses on housing and homelessness solutions, expanding the social safety net, protecting children in the digital world, and championing the rights of women and working families. Drawing on her experience in public service and community leadership, she continues to advance initiatives that ensure equity and opportunity reach every corner of her district.

Assemblymember Mia Bonta represents California’s 18th Assembly District, including Oakland, Emeryville, and Alameda. Bonta has spent her career advocating for students and working families, previously serving as CEO of Oakland Promise and as President of the Alameda Unified School District Board. Her district priorities include education and healthcare equity, affordable housing, criminal justice reform, and climate action. Building on her extensive experience in education and community advocacy, she continues to lead efforts that create a more inclusive and resilient East Bay.
