Salute to Excellence Gala

Salute to Excellence Awards Gala, the annual dinner and reception honoring those who have made an outstanding contribution to biotechnology and medical innovation. The fourteenth annual event will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Palace Hotel In San Francisco. More than $4 million has been raised to date.

The Salute Dinner Committee is privileged in announcing and recognizing three individuals for their distinguished influences in the fields of biotechnology and medical advancement.

A. Grant Heidrich, Partner Emeritus, Mayfield Fund, Strategic Advisor to The Column Group and angel investor has worked in venture capital for over 30 years, principally at the Mayfield Fund.

Carol L. Brosgart, MD, Senior Advisor on Science and Policy, VHAC at the CDC Foundation and the Division of Viral Hepatitis at CDC and Clinical Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Division of Global Health, UCSF, actively engaged in public health and policy, biotechnology, clinical research and drug development and medical education as a consultant and faculty at Aliios BioPharma, Children Hospital and Research Center, of Oakland, Gilead Science, the NIH, Juvaris BioTherapeutics, Alameda County and the Alta Bates Medical Center among others. Dr. Brosgart is a member of several boards of director of both non-profit and for-profit entities.

Martha Saly, Director of the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR), a coalition of public, private and voluntary organizations dedicated to reducing the incidence of infection, morbidity, and mortality from viral hepatitis through advocacy, education and coalition building.
