ABOUT IMBA + OYC
IMBA MEANS SING is an independent documentary feature film about the power of music, importance of education, and poverty alleviation – told through the eyes of Angel, Moses and Nina, three members of the GRAMMY-nominated African Children’s Choir. Our goal is to leverage IMBA MEANS SING through audience outreach and engagement to raise awareness and support for music education locally and equal access to education as a human right globally.
OAKLAND YOUTH CHORUS united diverse communities and transforms young people’s lives through excellence in music education and community performance. OYC focuses on creating and sustaining programs of high educational and artistic merit that are accessible to and supportive of children and youth who might otherwise not be able to experience the joy of making music with others. Serving over 650 singers coming from seven East Bay communities annually, OYC welcomes and serves all children and youth, celebrates their cultures and unique strengths, and connects them to each other in the East Bay to use their voices for change needed to bring harmony to our world.
