California's recently adopted general permit for construction sites represents a sizable shift in the detail, complexity and prescriptiveness in storm water requirements. The new and expanded requirements raise the bar on most aspects of storm water management at construction sites. The new permit will challenge developers, contractors and property owners to intensify their efforts or risk substantial penalties. This program will discuss the legal and technical perspectives of the new permit. It will examine the new requirements, identify compliance pitfalls, and offer strategies for achieving and maintaining compliance.
