The Montclair Fine Arts Sidewalk Festival celebrates art in the outdoors when more than 80 artists from the Bay Area and beyond will be displaying their wares against the scenic backdrop of Montclair Village and the Oakland Hills. Presented by the Montclair Village Association, this free festival is set to take place Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year?s featured artists include: Juan Archuleta Studio: Walnut Creek Medium: Acrylics His Art: Mixed media paintings Creative Process: ?I do my mixed media paintings one at a time from my original paintings. Starting from the giclee reproduction of my original, I then paint over the image with acrylic paint and then coat it with a UV laminate (varnish). The image goes around the edges of the stretcher bars (called gallery wrap). Some paintings are thin and wash-like, resembling a watercolor; others have a more dense laying of paint. In some I have chosen to use a more impressionistic approach, while others, more refinement. I let the mood of the subject instruct me in how to interpret its message.? Damien Jones Studio: Berkeley Medium: Ceramic His Art: Sculptures, vessels, and water features Creative Process: Damien creates sculptures, vessels and water features of high-fire ceramic, with fossil, mineral sphere, and bronze elements. ?In working with slabs of clay I cut out 2-D shapes, then curve and connect them to make 3-D forms. I?ve developed a large vocabulary of forms, textures, patterns and colors that I employ in my creations.? Gila Sagy Studio: Concord Medium: Glass Her Art: Jewelry and home decor Creative Process: ?The many colors and textures of glass make fusing so fascinating for me. Nothing can replace the excitement of creating beautiful color combinations with glass. My creations, which range from photo holders, jewelry, wine bottle platters and more are all original, unique and one of a kind. Everything is made of glass pieces in multiple colors and textures and the process of firing in the kiln fuses all of the pieces together to become one, elegant creation.? Montclair Village Tasting Experience As a featured addition to the Montclair Fine Arts Sidewalk Festival, Montclair Village will host The Beer and Wine Celebration and Art Festival on Saturday, June 28, from 11 a.m. ? 5 p.m. The event will showcase tasting booths from more than 20 artisan wineries and craft breweries, as well as a music stage, community and select vendor booths, and a kid?s activity space.
