Celebrate the Glorious Light (Lux Gloriosa) of the Cathedral through prayer, art and music at this annual festival, which consists of the following FREE events: Friday Art Reception, in conjunction with Oakland Art Murmur Friday, February 7, 5:00-7:00 pm Martin Erspamer, OSB will be on hand to discuss his works of art on display in the Cathedral Event Center. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and fine wine will be served. More information on Brother Martin's art can be found below. First Annual Diocesan Choir Festival Saturday, February 8, 8:00 pm The Cathedral welcomes choirs from parishes throughout the Diocese of Oakland, showcasing the diverse talents that are alive and prospering in the East Bay. Lecture & Art Exhibit - Brother Martin Erspamer, OSB Exhibit: February 7, 5-7 pm (Art Murmur); February 8, 4-8 and 9-10 pm; February 9, 9-1 and 3-6 pm Lecture: February 9, 4:00 pm Brother Martin Erspamer, OSB, will display his works throughout the Festival. A lecture entitled The Middle Path: Art and Life in the Monastery will be held on Sunday February 9 at 4:00 pm, also in the Event Center. Brother Martin, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana, works in a variety of media including ceramics, stained glass, true fresco and several illustration media. Most will recognize Brother Martin's black & white figures used in many church bulletins throughout the country. Do not miss the wonderful art exhibit and lecture. Evening Prayer and Blessing of Liturgical Musicians Monday, February 10, 7:00 pm The concluding event of the Lux Gloriosa Festival will be Evening Prayer at the Cathedral on Monday, February 10. Bishop Barber will address and give a special blessing to all liturgical musicians present. All are welcome to attend and pray with Bishop Barber for these musicians.
