Inside Oakland with the Hon. Lena Tam,
Alameda County Supervisor, District 3
A longstanding community leader and public servant, Lena Tam was elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in November 2022. She brings her proven and effective leadership to the people of Alameda, Oakland, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hillcrest Knolls and Hayward Acres.
Prior to her election as Supervisor, Lena has served as Vice Mayor of the City of Alameda, President of the City of Alameda Health Care Board and Chair of the Alameda County Planning Board. In her professional career, she is a licensed civil and environmental engineer. She was the Manager of Water Resources Planning at the East Bay Municipal Utility District, where she has worked for more than 30 years. She understands the complexities of how local and county governments interface with regional service providers; she’s a healthcare expert, and is well-versed on environmental sustainability and land use issues.
