County Supervisor: Hon. Alice Lai-Bitker
ALICE LAI-BITKER serves the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to represent District 3 which includes San Leandro, Alameda, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Hillcreast Knolls and the Fruitvale, San Antonio, Chinatown portions of Oakland.
Alice was unanimously appointed to the Board in 2000 and elected in 2002 and 2006. Prior to serving on the Board, she served as a staff assistant to Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan from 1995 to 2000. During her tenure as Supervisor, Alice has been a strong advocate for increasing health care for children and spearheading streamlined services to families suffering with domestic violence. In January 2007, she was elected to serve as Vice President of the Board.
Alice received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Hong Kong Shue Yan College in 1981. Alice came to the United States in 1983 and has lived in Alameda with her family since 1988. She earned a Master's degree in Social Work at San Francisco State University in 1987 and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1990.
