Honoring Martin Luther King III- Keynote Speaker.
On October 19, 2010 Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant and City of Oakland Mayor Ronald V. Dellums will be joined by keynote speaker Martin L. King III, President and CEO for the King Center and other prominent regional and national speakers including Gallup Inc. CEO Jim Clifton, Kelvin Boston, Executive producer and host of the Moneywise, and FDIC Deputy Director Robert W. Mooney for the HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Forum at the Marriott Hotel, Jewett Ballroom in Oakland, California
The theme for the HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Forum and luncheon is ''The Rebirth of America, Post Economic Crisis'' and will feature other distinguished speakers from the Bay area and around United States, representing organizations such as, Bank of the West, Union Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Gallup, Inc., Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Financial Services Roundtable, Greenlining Institute, United Way Bay Area, Oakland Superintendant of Schools, S.F. Housing Development Corporation, and the U.S. Small Business Administration to name a few.
Against the backdrop of this global economic crisis we believe that financial literacy is a new civil right, the first global silver right, and more so, an opportunity for us to get this right for future generations. We also believe that in a global economy anchored by the consumer, financial illiteracy becomes a real threat to our shared global prosperity, and that understanding the ''language of money'' is the first step to empowering the average person with the tools they need to both protect themselves and their families, and to make better choices about our collective future.
Financial literacy is the fuel that will drive sustainable and healthy consumer confidence. On October 19th, 2010, we will be making a business case for financial literacy both in the Bay area and around the United States.
