Summary: ''How Economically Empowered Women Make the East Bay a Better Place''
Economic empowerment among women is growing in the East Bay and this specific empowerment has been leading women to play a larger role in the betterment of the region. The notable examples are numerous of economically empowered women not only rising to positions of power in business, government, the non-profit sector and philanthropy, but also of using their positions to define the future of the East Bay in order to transform it into a different and better place.
Nicole Taylor's Bio:
Nicole Taylor is President and Chief Executive Officer of the East Bay Community Foundation. She is the first African-American to lead the Foundation since it was established in 1928.
In 2009, 2010 and 2011, she was named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the "Most Influential Women in Business in the Bay Area.'' In 2010, the Times named her as one of the ''Most Admired CEOs'' in the Bay Area.
Before coming to the Foundation in September 2007, she was Managing Director of the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University, one of the nation's premier institutions developing leaders capable of making social change.
Taylor serves on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and as a Vice Chair of the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, She also serves on the governing boards of the League of California Community Foundations, the Council on Foundations Community Foundations Leadership Team, and a number of family foundations. She holds a B.A. in Human Biology and a M.A. in Education ? both from Stanford
