Chosen by Amazon as a "Best Book of January 2016" and the "Featured Debut" of the month, Andria Williams' The Longest Night is a "scintillating" (Kirkus Review) and singularly unique historical novel. From the Amazon.com review: "With any luck, the publication of The Longest Night will signal the beginning of a new kind of historical novel: one that takes not a real-life character but an incident--here, a little known nuclear plant accident--and imagines the lives of the people who lived through it." SF Chronicle calls it a "smart, detailed" and "assured" debut novel.
Bay Area-born author Andria Williams will discuss the fascinating real-life backstory behind her book, as well as her writing process. This event will take place in one of Oakland's most scenic locations, The Terrace Room Restaurant inside the historic Lake Merritt Hotel. Light refreshments will be offered, and there will be time for book buying and signing after Mrs. Williams' presentation. This is a free event. Please RSVP by calling (510) 903-3600.
