Fling! And Magical Realism: An Author Talk by Lily Iona MacKenzie

Lily Iona MacKenzie will discuss the magic in magical realism and how her novel Fling! fits into that category. MacKenzie believes that language by its very nature is magical, transforming our everyday reality in multiple ways. When she calls on magical realism in her fiction, she does it because it expands her understanding of our world, both internally and externally. In her presentation, Lily will include some brief readings from the Fling! She also will offer insight into the mysterious twists and turns of the writing process itself when her husband, Michael Zimmerman a Joyce scholar, interviews her.
