The Lake Merritt Music Series:
Maestros and Masterworks: The Artistry of Orchestral Conducting
What makes a great orchestral conductor? How do gestures and movements convey musical ideas and instructions to the orchestra? Why does an orchestra even need a conductor? Zachary Bruno, Associate Professor of Music at Skyline College, will focus on some of the world's great conductors and symphonic repertoire. There will also be an interactive conducting lesson.
Zachary Bruno earned his D.M.A. in Orchestral Conducting at Boston University, where he also served as the Graduate Assistant Conductor in the Orchestra Department. He also has a Masters in Music Education from University of the Pacific. Mr. Bruno is currently an assistant professor and the Director of Bands at Skyline College in San Bruno, CA.
