Cats, Kids and Caldecott: A Brief History of the Picture Book
Picture books aren’t always as simple as they appear. With equal importance of storytelling and visuals, the picture book should be taken seriously as a tool and an art form. Sharon McKellar has been a librarian with the Oakland Public Library since 2003, serving as a children’s librarian, a branch manager, and currently as the Community Relations Librarian. She is a reader, a writer, and was honored to be a member of the 2015 Caldecott Selection Committee.
