A Brief History of Film Editing
Kyle Parker, a producer, editor, cinematographer and lecturer, will take us back to the first days of moving pictures when films consisted of a single shot, and understanding how technology, along with increasingly complex storytelling, has led us to the digital editing technology in use today. We will look at early American and European innovations to see how cinema has progressed from Silent films that required a film processing lab and were cut with razor blades to High Definition action movies that can be edited with a laptop. Kyle will use video clips during his presentation to explain these processes.
