DESCRIPTION:Cantare Con Vivo's Summer Choir is open to all choral singers\; no audition is required.  All current and former singers are invited to join forces in presenting a rich array of African-American spirituals and gospel songs\, many that are seldom performed today. Black Gospel music entered the culture in the 1930's\, merging the secular rhythms and harmonies of jazz and blues with deeply personal expressions of faith. Rehearsals on Sundays 7\, 14\, 21 from 3:45 pm-5:45 pm and Thursdays 11\,18\, 25 from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm in Oakland at Lakeshore Baptist Church on Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland.\n\nPerformances on Saturday\, July 27 at 7:30 pm at the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church in Lafayette and Sunday\, July 28 at 4:00 pm in Oakland.
