\n This year&rsquo\;s event will honor the 2013 Outstanding Members of Boys &\; Girls Clubs of Oakland who are recognized for their outstanding character\, leadership and service to the Club. \;A special award will be presented to one of the finalist on this special evening as the &ldquo\;Youth of the Year&rdquo\;. \; Our guest speaker for this year'\;s event Sonny Dykes\, University of California \; Head Football coach.

\n\n Our Mission:
\n\n The purpose of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oakland is to develop our community'\;s youth into positive contributors to society.
\n\n \;
\n\n To accomplish our purpose\, we provide programs and services that are tailored to the needs of today'\;s youth and supplementary to the endeavors of families\, our schools\, and other community-based organizations.
\n\n \;
\n\n Locally\, we provide safe places to learn and grow\, ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals\, life-enhancing programs\, character development experiences\, hope\, and opportunity for over 3\,500 girls and boys ages 6 to 17 each year.
\n\n \;
\n\n Our services are based on our national Movement'\;s philosophy\, principles\, and youth development strategy which promotes and enhances the development of boys and girls 6 through 17 years of age.
\n\n \;
\n\n Our strategy is designed to promote in our members a sense of competence\, usefulness\, belonging\, and to use the power of influence. We also strive to instill a sense of responsibility in each child.
\n\n \;
