The East Bay Vintners Alliance (EBVA) will host the 10th annual Urban Wine Xperience at Market Hall in Jack London Square on Aug. 1 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. More than 20 East Bay urban wineries will pour a wide array of their white, rosé, red and dessert wines. In addition, the various wineries will be teaming up with dozens of local eateries and food purveyors to create wine and food pairings showcasing the many tastes of the East Bay. ?This event is the ultimate experience for locals and visitors wanting to get a real taste of the East Bay?s flourishing food and wine culture,? said Steve Shaffer, president of the EBVA and winemaker at Urban Legend in Oakland. ?We are thrilled to make quality wines year after year that are sourced from the best grapes in California and produced in urban locations like Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda and Castro Valley. This event is a testament to EBVA?s 10th year of being a part of a region that supports and thrives on the unparalleled quality of its local goods.? From innovative blends to mainstream favorites, the featured local wines range from single varietals such as Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Viognier, to unique blends and even mead (honey wine). The vineyards from which EVBA winemakers source grapes are as far north as Mendocino County to the local Oakland hills, and as far south as Paso Robles. Tickets are priced at $35 for wine club members, $45 for advance tickets purchased before June 1 and $70 at the door. Designated drivers receive discounted tickets at $15. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1626900.
