The League of Women Voters of Oakland will hold its 24th Annual All-City Luncheon on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in the Ballroom at the Scottish Rite Center on Lakeside Drive. Dr. Sylvia Earle, renowned oceanographer, explorer, author, lecturer, and National Geographic Society Explorer-in-Residence (though she calls Oakland home) will be our featured speaker. Her topic: "Exploring and Protecting Our Oceans -- Why It Matters and What We Can Do To Help."

Citywide Annual Luncheon
In keeping with Dr. Earle's theme and in recognition of Oakland as a waterfront city, we will present this year's "Making Democracy Work" Awards to Sandra Threlfall, founder of the Oakland Waterfront Coalition and Executive Director of Waterfront Action, and to the Oakland Museum Women's Board, whose White Elephant Sales have raised $20 million over the past 61 years for the Museum to fund special exhibits such as the one in the Natural Sciences Gallery featuring Cordell Bank Marine Sanctuary.Date and Time
